Auto-reply when someone DMs you

Someone messages your account and gets an instant answer. Use it for the questions you type out twenty times a week, or as the landing point for a link in bio.

This trigger fires on incoming DMs rather than on anything public. Nobody else sees it, which makes it the quiet workhorse: it answers the same question at three in the morning without you being awake for it.

Setting it up

  • •Create a campaign and choose User DMs you as the trigger. It is on the free plan.
  • •Step 1 shows Recent DM conversations. There is an All incoming DMs switch, which auto-replies to every new DM the account receives.
  • •Set trigger keywords if you only want it firing on specific words, such as PRICE or BOOK.
  • •Write the reply, then set the campaign Active.

If the list is empty it means nobody has messaged you recently. Once someone does, they appear there.

Good uses for it

  • •The question you answer constantly. Prices, delivery times, whether you take bookings.
  • •A link-in-bio destination. Send people to your DMs with a keyword instead of to a landing page, and you get a conversation instead of a bounce.
  • •Ad traffic. Click-to-message ads land in your DMs, and this trigger is what answers them.
  • •An after-hours holding reply, so nobody waits overnight wondering if you exist.

Be careful with All incoming DMs

Replying to every DM means replying to real conversations too — friends, existing customers, people mid-discussion with you. On a busy account that reads as a bot talking over a human. Keywords are usually the better setting, with All incoming DMs kept for accounts where every message really is a new enquiry.

Common questions

Can IGSender reply automatically to Instagram DMs?

Yes. Create a campaign with the User DMs you trigger, either set keywords such as PRICE so it only fires on those, or turn on All incoming DMs to answer every new message. It works on the free plan.

Should I auto-reply to every DM?

Usually not. All incoming DMs replies to real conversations too, including friends and customers mid-discussion, which reads as a bot talking over a person. Keywords are the safer default unless every message to your account is a new enquiry.

Does this work with click-to-message Instagram ads?

Yes. Traffic from a click-to-message ad arrives as an ordinary incoming DM, so a DM keyword campaign answers it like any other message.
