Instagram DM automation free plans, actually compared
Every tool in this category has a free plan, and they are limited in completely different ways. One caps DMs, one caps contacts, one caps accounts. Here is what each actually gives you.
"Free plan available" tells you almost nothing. The useful question is which limit you will hit first, because these tools cap completely different things — and the one that looks most generous on paper is often not the one that lasts longest for your usage.
The free plans, side by side
| Tool | Free plan | What it caps |
|---|---|---|
| Earnly Magic Link | Free product, no paid tier | Features, not volume |
| LinktoDM | 3 creator accounts, 2,000 contacts | Contacts |
| ReplyRush | 1,500 DMs/month | DMs |
| IGSender | 1,000 DMs/month, 1 account, 10 campaigns | DMs |
| CreatorFlow | 500 DMs/month, 1 account | DMs |
DM caps versus contact caps
This is the distinction that decides which plan lasts longer for you, and it depends entirely on how repetitive your audience is.
- •A DM cap counts every message sent. If the same 200 followers trigger your automation five times each, that is 1,000 DMs.
- •A contact cap counts unique people. Those same 200 followers are 200 contacts no matter how often they engage.
- •So: a highly engaged, repeat audience burns through a DM cap fast and barely dents a contact cap. A broad audience where each person triggers once does the opposite.
What free plans usually withhold
Volume is the visible limit. The features held back matter more, and they are not always obvious from the pricing page.
- •CreatorFlow's free tier includes comment-to-DM and story replies, but email collection and link click tracking are Pro-only.
- •Earnly's Magic Link has no volume limit at all, but it only does comment-to-DM — no story replies, no analytics.
- •IGSender's free plan includes Comment Auto-DM and a 7-day analytics window; story reply, follow gate, story mention and re-trigger are on Pro. (Our own product — check the pricing page.)
- •LinktoDM lists ask-to-follow, follow-up messages and AI auto-reply on its free plan, which is unusually complete for a free tier.
How to pick without paying first
- •Estimate DMs, not followers. Take a typical post, count the comments that would trigger an automation, multiply by posts per month.
- •If that number is under 500, almost any free plan works and you should choose on features instead.
- •If it is over 1,500, you will pay somewhere — compare paid tiers now rather than migrating later.
- •Check the account limit if you run more than one Instagram account. It is the limit people notice last and it is the hardest to work around.
One thing worth saying plainly: free tiers are a trial in disguise, and every vendor on this list — us included — sizes them to be outgrown. That is not dishonest, but it is worth knowing when you compare. Pick on the paid tier you would eventually land on, not on the free one.
